A surfactant is a wetting agent that lowers the surface tension of a liquid allowing easier spreading and lowers the interfacial tension between two liquids so the WASH-TECH and the water blend well for best cleaning action.

An anionic surfactant is a synthetic detergent that yields a negative charge to the solution. It allows the cleaning surface to fully wet so dirt is easily loosened and removed. It cleans greasy, oily particulate, protein and carbohydrate (that hamburger and the fries that went with it!) based stains. It is instrumental in removing dirt and keeping it emulsified, suspended, and dispersed so it does not settle back onto the surface being cleaned.
